StumbleUpon vs. Google

Google has become the top search engine in the world, and these days it seems like it has been around forever. When we have a question, we no longer “find” the answer, we “Google” it.
Some may say Google has become their best friend. But what if I told you that there is a new kid in town, StumbleUpon, and they are about to make your life easier.

The way StumbleUpon works is like this:

Once you create an account (yes, another account – they need some way to save your settings) you begin to check off topics that you are interested in. There are nearly 500 topics to choose from and you can change them at any time. Now you can start Stumbling, click “Stumble” and the site delivers high-quality pages matched to your personal preferences.

Here are a few comparisons

GOOGLE

STUMBLEUPON

You have to hunt through result pages full of “relevant content”

You are taken directly to websites matching your interests

Pages may only be at the top of the list because someone paid to get it there

Each page is recommended to you by others with the same interests

Book marking a site takes time to create and organize categories and takes away from your search

Clicking the “like” button stores the page in your favourites and keeps them organized in categories

If you are planning your Wedding, StumbleUpon can help inspire you. If you click your interests as weddings, food & cooking and music, you will be directed to pages that will relate. So when you call the caterer, you know exactly what you are looking for!

Still a little hesitant follow the link and check it out yourself, start stumbling!
