Only the Best at your Party: Top BC Wines

Every once in a while we all like to get together with friends to catch up, eat and drink. But we can’t just serve crackers, cheese, cookies and whatever wine is left over from Christmas. Here are a few pairing ideas with B.C's choice wines that are sure to impress your friends.

Bachelorette Party
It’s time to celebrate, so break out the Sparkling wine for the ladies this evening! This local classic, The Gray Monk Odyssey Brut 2007, has a full creamy texture with flavours hinting of citrus fruits and apricots. To accompany this wine, try serving sushi for dinner and oranges with a chocolate drizzle for dessert.

Fondue Party
Don’t choose between chocolate or cheese fondue... do both! Start the evening with an emmental and gruyere fondue and serve with a Tinhorn Creek Gewurztraminer, 2008 or Le Coq Rue No. 5 merlot for the red wine drinkers. Both wines are full bodied and pair well with prosciutto and melon.

Inniskillin’s Discovery series Zinfandel is perfect choice for your chocolate fondue as it displays a vivid aroma of pomegranate, raspberries, and licorice, finishing with cinnamon, black pepper and ripe red fruit; a trusty partner for everyone’s favourite dessert.

Tailgate BBQ
We can’t forget about the boys now! This is the time for men to through a steak or some Kobe beef on to the BBQ. A wine that is going to best bring out those flavours from the grill is the Road 13 vineyards Zinfandel 2007. This wine will also go great with some mostly any fruit you pull out for dessert, try some apple slices and pine apple.

Let us know what your favourite B.C. wine pairing is!
